He also received nominations for the Maud Hart Lovelace Award, the 1992-93 Massachusetts Children's Book Award, the 1994 Kentucky Bluegrass Award, the 1993-94 Sunshine State Award Master List, and the Black-eyed Susan Award in 1993-94. Matt Christopher lived in Charlotte, North Carolina until his death in 1997. He had four children, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
